Join us for a hands-on day (2 September 2026) discovering tools and resources for exploring open academic data at EPFL. Learn advanced features and data processing using platforms such as OpenAlex

What to expect?
A hands-on Topic Exploration Challenge: pick a topic, find unexpected connections in the academic literature, and present how you found them. The focus is on methodology, not the topic itself.
Who is it for?
Open to researchers, research support staff, librarians, students, and anyone curious…. No programming skills: If you have no programming experience, you will be able to explore the data through web platforms to browse, search, and explore, as well as benefit from exchanges with more experienced participants. If you code, you will be able to use your knowledge for advanced challenges (notebooks, graphs, embeddings). We will mix skill levels so everyone can learn from each other
The Hackathon will take place on Wednesday, 2 September 2026 at EPFL, from 10:00 to 16:45.
